Porsche is expanding its range of hybrids even further: the new Cayenne E-Hybrid combines the best driving dynamics in its class with maximum efficiency. A three-litre V6 engine (250 kW/340 hp) combines with an electric engine (100 kW/136 hp) to generate system power of 340 kW (462 hp). The maximum torque of 700 Nm is already available just above idling speed; the boost strategy matches that of the 918 Spyder supercar. The Cayenne’s plug-in hybrid drive enables acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 5.0 seconds and a maximum speed of 253 kilometres per hour.

The new Cayenne E-Hybrid can drive up to a distance of 441) kilometres and speed of 135 kilometres per hour on electricity alone. The average consumption in the New European Drive Cycle (NEDC), depending on the set of tyres used, is 3.4 – 3.2 l/100 km of fuel and 20.9 – 20.6 kWh/100 km of electricity. Alongside the launch of the Cayenne E-Hybrid, Porsche is expanding its range of comfort and assistance systems for the entire Cayenne series with additional options such as the new head-up display, massage seats and 22-inch light metal wheels.

The new Cayenne E-Hybrid is available now in Germany at prices ranging from €89,822 including VAT and country-specific features. It will be launched onto the European market in late May 2018.

THE NEW 911 GT3 RS SETS THE FASTEST LAP THROUGH THE ‘GREEN HELL’

On April 16 the Porsche 911 GT3 RS set another benchmark for road-approved sports cars at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit in Germany: Porsche works race driver Kévin Estre set a lap time in 6:56.4 minutes with the 520-hp GT3 RS. The Frenchman’s lap time was 24 seconds faster than the best time achieved with the previous GT3 RS model.

Porsche development driver Lars Kern was sharing driving duties with Estre. Following the 918 Spyder and the 911 GT2 RS, the new GT3 RS is the third production Porsche sports car with a notarised lap time of less than seven minutes on the world’s most demanding race track, known as the ‘Green Hell’. As is customary for record drives, the time was measured around the 20.6-kilometre lap.

Many innovative ideas from top-level motorsport were transferred; for example, from the 911 GT3 R. Porsche revs into its anniversary year with the premiere of the most powerful road-approved high-performance sports car featuring a naturally aspirated engine. At the 88th International Geneva Motor Show (March 6-18, 2018), the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer unveils the new 911 GT3 RS on Tuesday, 6 March, at 9:20 a.m. (CET). It produces 383 kW (520 hp; Fuel consumption combined 12.8 l/100 km; CO2emissions 291 g/km) from a four-litre capacity.

The sports car manufacturer from Zuffenhausen celebrates its 70th anniversary with a raft of activities. The first sports car to bear the Porsche name was registered on June 8, 1948 – the 356 “No.1” Roadster. It was on this day that the Porsche brand was born. In Germany, the celebrations begin with the “70 years of the Porsche sports car” exhibition in Berlin from March 20 through May 31 at the Volkswagen Group Forum “DRIVE”. The Porsche Museum in Stuttgart will hold its own anniversary celebrations with a comprehensive special exhibition from June 9. On the same day, Porsche invites sports car fans to its “Sports Car Together Day” at all of the company’s locations around the world. On June 16–17, the sports car manufacturer welcomes employees and enthusiasts to a public celebration in and around the Porsche Museum. The anniversary will also be celebrated at the “Festival of Speed” at Goodwood in the UK (July 12–15) as well as at the “Rennsport Reunion” in California from September 27–30. The jubilee festivities will conclude with the “Porsche Sound Night” on 13 October.

The Porsche motorsport department is presenting Weissach’s latest treat at the Geneva Motor Show: the 911 GT3 RS with motorsport chassis and 383-kW (520-hp), four-litre, high-speed naturally aspirated engine. The new high-performance sports car is based on the 911 GT3, which has been refined still further to combine the performance-enhanced engine with a running-gear setup that features re-calibrated rear axle steering designed for maximum dynamics and precision. The 911 GT3 RS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 312 km/h. Following the launch of the 911 GT3 and the 911 GT2 RS, this latest release will see Porsche present its third GT road-approved sports car within a year.

Aerodynamics have determined the design of the wide, weight-optimised body with its classic rigid rear wing. The racing look continues into the interior with full bucket seats made of carbon to provide secure lateral support in response to high-level driving dynamics. Lightweight door panels with storage nets and opening loops, reduced sound absorption and the new lightweight rear lid further emphasise the consistency of the material choices.

The four-litre, six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine from Porsche in the new 911 GT3 RS pushes the sports car to new limits: The flat engine delivers 15 kW (20 hp) more than the engine in the previous model and the 911 GT3. Together with a speed range reaching up to 9,000 rpm, it was the ideal choice as a thoroughbred sports engine. Combined with the specially calibrated seven-speed PDK, the high-performance engine guarantees an outstanding driving performance.

Technology straight from motorsport ensures that the chassis offers exceptional driving dynamics. Ball joints on all arms provide even greater precision than conventional elastokinematic bearings. 20-inch lightweight wheels with newly developed 265/35 sports tyres on the front axle enhance agility and steering behaviour, while 21 inch wheels with 325/30 tyres at the rear axle improve traction.

The New Porsche 911 Carrera T – Less is More

With the 911 Carrera T, Porsche is reviving the puristic concept behind the 911 T of 1968: less weight, shorter transmission ratios from the manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive with mechanical rear differential lock for an enhanced performance and intense driving pleasure. The new model’s unique appearance is based on the 911 Carrera and its engine delivers 272 kW (370 hp).

The 911 Carrera T – at Porsche, “T” stands for Touring – also boasts several other equipment features that are not available for the 911 Carrera, including the PASM sports chassis as standard, lowered by 20 mm, the weight-optimised Sport Chrono Package, a shortened shift lever with red shift pattern and Sport-Tex seat centres. The rear-axle steering, which is not available for the 911 Carrera, is available as an option for the 911 Carrera T.

Every aspect of the equipment in the 911 Carrera T is designed to optimise sportiness and deliver lightweight construction: The rear window and rear side windows are made from lightweight glass and the door trims feature opening loops. The sound absorption has been largely reduced. The rear seats have been omitted along with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM), though both are still available on request at no additional cost. The result of the lightweight construction measures: At an unladen weight of 1,425 kilograms, the two-seater is 20 kilograms lighter than a 911 Carrera with comparable equipment.

The 911 Carrera T will be available from January 2018 and can be pre-ordered now. In Germany, the price will be EUR 107,553 including VAT and country-specific features.

Porsche set a new record for road-approved sports cars on the 20.6-kilometre Nürburgring Nordschleife in the 911 GT2 RS on September 20. The record time of 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds was achieved in the presence of a notary and surpassed even Porsche’s own expectations. The vehicle’s average speed was 184.11 km/h. The GT2 RS is not only the most powerful, but also the fastest 911 ever built.

The fastest and most powerful road-approved 911 celebrated its world premiere at the Festival of Speed in Goodwood in the UK at the end of June. At the heart of this high-performance sports car is a 515-kW (700-hp) six-cylinder biturbo flat engine. Weighing in at 1,470 kg with a full fuel tank, the lightweight two-seater accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. The rear-wheel drive Coupé has a top speed of 340 km/h and with its near-motorsport drive technology, the new 911 GT2 RS trumps its 3.6-litre predecessor by 59 kW (80 hp) and achieves a torque of 750 Newton metres (an increase of 50 Nm).

Porsche is expanding its hybrid range, as a powerful plug-in hybrid is being added to the Panamera Sport Turismo model line. The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo flagship model will combine a four-litre V8 engine with an electric motor, resulting in a system power of 500 kW/680 hp. Even when just above idle speed, the Panamera Turbo offers 850 Nm of torque. That means it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 km/h. Average consumption in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) is 3.0 l/100 km.

The most powerful Sport Turismo has a range of up to 49 kilometres using solely electric power and therefore producing zero local emissions. It is not just the balance between performance and efficiency that makes the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo unique in its segment; its spatial concept, including a large tailgate, low loading edge, increased luggage compartment volume and a 4+1 seating configuration.

Measured to the upper edge of the rear seats, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo offers 425 litres of storage space. The backrests of the three rear seats can be folded down together or individually (in a 40:20:40 split) and are unlocked electrically from the luggage compartment. In this case, the loading volume is increased to up to 1,295 litres.
