Porsche Cayenne with New Connect Functions – Fully Networked

Porsche Cayenne povezljivost 03

New functions, new services, new apps: with the Cayenne, Porsche is raising vehicle networking to a new level. The wide range of networking options are part of Porsche Connect Plus, which is included in the standard equipment of the new SUV generation. This means that, for the first time, drivers can now access Amazon Music and Radio Plus, an intelligent combination of traditional radio reception and online radio, all through Porsche Communication Management (PCM).

Porsche Cayenne povezljivost 02

The new Cayenne is perma-nently online thanks to the integrated, LTE-compatible SIM card. This function is also included as standard. Porsche has also developed a simplified smartphone app for the key Connected Car functions. With Amazon Music, subscribers can use one of the most popular streaming services in the Cayenne directly from the PCM. In addition to the comprehensive range of music, Amazon Music also offers an ad-free audio live cover-age of German Bundesliga football, DFB Cup matches and games with participation of German teams in the two major European football competitions.

Another innovation is Radio Plus. This service extends the range of your personal fa-vourite station through an integrated Internet radio function so that it is practically unlim-ited, provided that the chosen station offers an online radio channel. Once the Cayenne leaves the range for terrestrial radio reception via FM or digital radio, the system auto-matically switches to online streaming. This improves the reception quality in areas with poor radio coverage. Porsche offers a seven-gigabyte data pack for the use of the Ama-zon Music streaming service, for online radio and for surfing the web using the Wifi Hotspot in the vehicle.

Global Endurance Test for the New Cayenne

Porsche Cayenne

The third generation of the Porsche Cayenne is in the starting blocks. The new edition of this successful model, which has achieved more than 760,000 sales since 2002, has undergone a complex and challenging series of examinations. Taking place across the globe and under extreme conditions, the tests ensure that the SUV meets the highest quality requirements set by Porsche. In conditions ranging from minus 45 degrees to plus 50 degrees, the prototypes and pre-series vehicles complete a total of around 4.4 million test kilometres.

Porsche Cayenne 04

Porsche is celebrating the world première of the new Cayenne on August 29, 2017. The vehicle is a complete redevelopment. The drive and chassis as well as the display and control concept have been redesigned to further increase the spread between sportiness and comfort. The main objective of the elaborate testing process is to achieve a perfect balance between the many components, some of which were developed especially for the Cayenne. For the new Cayenne generation – referred to as E3 within Porsche – this process began as far back as 2014 with the unit carriers and has continued to this day with prototypes and pre-series vehicles. In addition to increasingly accurate virtual simulations, testing under real-life conditions is still highly valued at Porsche and represents the final examination for every new model produced by the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer.

Porsche Cayenne 01

The full vehicle test is implemented to harmonise the interaction of all individual components and to test operational stability and functionality in customer-oriented operation. The aim is always to meet the highest quality demands at Porsche. Specifically, this process includes tough endurance tests on Hydropuls units, a hydraulic testing facility that applies artificial vibrations to both the chassis and body. The range of tests also covers realistic operational stability tests on and offroad at the Porsche test site based at the Weissach development centre or endurance tests inside and outside the test site. A vehicle life is simulated under conditions that are so tough, they are unlikely to ever occur once the vehicle is owned by the customer. Under everyday conditions in urban traffic, on country roads and on the motorways, the vehicles cover up to 240,000 km within a few months in shifts.

Porsche Cayenne 02

To simulate extreme stresses, the prototypes of the new Cayenne are being tested all around the world, including on race tracks traditionally used by Porsche to test all its models: In Germany, the Hockenheimring and the especially challenging Nürburgring-Nordschleife are used. In Italy, the test cars are put through their paces in continuous operation on the 12.6-km high-speed track at Nardò. The materials, sensors and electronics have to prove their quality and durability in different climate conditions – at up to plus 50 degrees Celsius in the sand dunes of Dubai (UAE) and on dusty slopes in Death Valley (USA) as well as at up to minus 45 degrees Celsius on ice and snow in Alaska (USA). The third generation of the Cayenne also had to endure the stop-start traffic in the hot and humid conditions of Chinese cities, master test tracks in Sweden, Finland and Spain, and was transported to South Africa, Japan and New Zealand to complete extensive on and offroad testing.

At Home on any Terrain: Porsche Cayenne and Macan

porsche-macan

Porsche is expanding its dynamic SUV range with the release of the Macan Turbo with Performance Package as its top model in the compact all-wheel drive segment. Not only does this flagship vehicle, the power output of which has been raised to 324 kW (440 hp), boast outstanding sporty driving characteristics, but the new Macan Turbo with Performance Package once again underlines the typical market spread offered by Porsche SUVs. Be it robust off-road use, sportscar-like dynamics on the race track or long-distance comfort in everyday driving, the Cayenne and Macan cover an unrivalled range of applications. They are equally at home both on and off the road, even on snow and gravel, all the while combining optimum traction with the very special driving experience of a Porsche.

The success story of the Cayenne and Macan started with a brave yet visionary decision made by Porsche at the end of the 1990s. Having already enjoyed great success in the sportscar market, the company was looking for new growth opportunities and decided to enter the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment. Since the new model line had to meet the most diverse and exacting requirements, the development engineers made full use of their innovative strength, while also calling upon over 50 years of tradition in the field of sportscar manufacture. This unique blend of expertise dictated the new vehicle concept and, to this day, remains one of the secrets to the success of Porsche’s SUVs.

porsche-cayenne-turbo-01

In 2010, the bestseller was replaced with an entirely new Cayenne generation. With this model, Porsche introduced parallel hybrid technology into the world of series production cars: With system power of 279 kW (380 hp), the Cayenne S Hybrid consumed just 8.2 l/100 km in the NEDC. The Porsche hybrid drive was also the world’s first system to enable the exploitation of additional consumption potential in higher speed ranges – that is, coasting at speeds of up to 156 km/h with the combustion engine switched off.

Today, all Porsche SUVs offer this coasting function in their own individual configuration. Four years later, the Cayenne again performed pioneering work by delivering the world’s first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment. Overall consumption was reduced to 3.4 l/100 km in the NEDC, with a combined power output of 306 kW (416 hp). Yet, despite all their efficiency, the Cayenne models with hybrid drives remained extremely sporty, effectively using the electric drive to boost acceleration, for example.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S : World Premiere in Detroit

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

At the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Porsche is also introducing the new Cayenne Turbo S – the top model of the sporty SUV model series. Its re-engineered 4.8-liter V8 biturbo engine now develops 570 hp (419 kW) and 800 Nm (590 ft lb) of torque. A chassis that is tuned for maximum driving dynamics and packs a wide range of control systems also makes the Cayenne Turbo S a genuine top athlete. It can turn a lap of the North Loop of the Nürburgring in 7:59.74 minutes. The Cayenne sets a new record for SUVs here, and it also proves that every Porsche is a genuine sports car – even in this vehicle segment.

The more spontaneous response of the biturbo engine is primarily a benefit of the integral turbochargers, which are now housed directly in the exhaust manifolds. This new approach also improves combustion. The high-performance engine offers 20 hp more power and 50 Nm (36.8 ft lb) more torque than the previous engine. The Cayenne Turbo S accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds – which is 0.4 seconds faster than the previous model (0 – 60 mph in 3.8 seconds). Its top speed is now 284 km/h (176 mph).

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 01

The Cayenne Turbo S also underscores its position as a top athlete in its chassis systems. Its standard Porsche Composite Ceramic Brakes (PCCB) include 420 mm front brake discs and, for the first time, ten-piston calipers. The rear brakes have 370 mm discs and four-piston calipers. The active roll stabilization system, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) proactively reduces side tilt when driving through curves early on.

Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) increases dynamic handling and stability by making specific brake interventions at the right or left rear wheel – this noticeably improves steering into curves and steering precision. The active hang-on all-wheel drive system Porsche Traction Management (PTM) permanently drives the rear wheels while offering fully variable power distribution to the front wheels. Some advantages of the interplay between all systems: excellent driving dynamics and traction as well as a high level of agility at any speed.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 2

Standard features of the Cayenne Turbo S reflect the top level of this model. They include 21-inch wheels in distinctive 911 Turbo design with black painted edges, LED headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus), full-leather interior with Porsche logo embossed on all head restraints as well as interior carbon accents. Interior styling in a black/creme color combination is making its debut in the Cayenne Turbo S.

Creating exterior visual accents are the air inlet surround at the front of the vehicle that is painted in high-gloss black, the undersides of the door mirrors in the same color and the roof spoiler and wheel arch moldings in car color. A sport exhaust system is available as an option in combination with a switchable sound symposer, which optimally transmits the V8 sound experience into the interior.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 1

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S will be launched in Germany in the second quarter of 2015. The price is 166,696 Euro including value added tax and country-specific features.

Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS and Cayenne Turbo S in World Premiere

Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS Detroit

The 911 Targa 4 GTS and Cayenne Turbo S are celebrating their world premieres at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. For the first time, the 911 Targa 4 GTS combines the successful GTS idea with the classic targa concept. Its more powerful engine with 430 hp (316 kW) and standard Sport Chrono package generate even more dynamic performance. Other GTS-specific ingredients include matt black 20-inch wheels with central wheel locks, sport design front end, black air intake screens and, also in black, GTS logos on the doors, at the rear and on the rollover protection bar. Inside, the black Alcantara on the steering wheel and seats and trim accents made of black brushed aluminum create a sporty flair.

The new top model of the latest generation Cayenne is primarily distinguished by its new engine charging concept with turbochargers integrated in the exhaust manifolds. This increases the power of the Cayenne Turbo S to 570 hp (419 kW), which is 20 hp more than the previous model. The car’s maximum torque, which was increased by 50 Nm (36.8 ft lb) to 800 Nm (590 ft lb), enables superlative performance, and the new turbochargers ensure even better responsiveness of the biturbo engine.

Both new products deliver maximum driving enjoyment by their top levels of sportiness, and they are perfect examples of the sustained success of Porsche in the world’s largest sports car and SUV market, the USA. Ever since the Type 356 was introduced in the 1950s, Porsche has appealed to a very broad-minded customer base with its vehicles in the USA, a clientèle that truly values a unique mix of sportiness, performance and design. That is why the United States has traditionally been the largest global market for Porsche. In 2014, around one-fourth of all vehicles it produced were delivered to the USA.
