THE NEW OPEN-AIR MERCEDES-AMG GT S ROADSTER

Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster 01

In time for the spring, Mercedes-AMG is extending its sports car portfolio with the new AMG GT S Roadster as an attractive open-air model. With this latest addition the AMG GT family now has a dozen members: four two-door Coupés, three Roadsters, two customer sports racing cars and three four-door Coupés. The basis for the high Driving Performance of the new AMG GT S Roadster is the combination of a lightweight aluminium spaceframe, a V8 biturbo engine, a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, a rear axle locking differential and a sport suspension with aluminium double wishbone axles.

Compared to the AMG GT Roadster, the AMG GT S Roadster is rendered even more dynamic by numerous modifications to the engine, suspension, brakes, design and interior. This positions it between the AMG GT Roadster and the even more powerful AMG GT C Roadster, now providing a choice of three open-top two-seaters.

The AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo in the AMG GT S Roadster delivers an output of 384 kW (522 hp) and maximum torque of 670 Nm. This is available over a wide engine speed range from 1900 to 5000 rpm. The eight-cylinder power unit delivers muscular performance in all engine speed ranges, combined with high efficiency for low fuel consumption and emission levels. A sprint from standstill to 100 km/h is absolved in 3.8 seconds. The dynamic power delivery continues right up to the top speed of 308 km/h.

The sales start date for the new Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster is available to order with immediate effect. The market launch starts from July 2018.

The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class is as youthful and dynamic as ever, but grown-up and comfortable like never before. The new A-Class can be ordered from March onwards, and the market launch commences in the spring.

THE NEW MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS OFFICIALLY UNVEILED

Mercedes G 000

The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class presents itself in top form. Whether on or off the road and whatever the operating conditions, the off-road vehicle impresses with its performance, cutting-edge assistance systems, outstanding handling, and safety. At the same time, the new suspension, the DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, the “G-Mode” and the three 100‑percent differential locks enhance not only ride comfort but also agility – on any surface.

“The new G-Class is setting the bar higher still in all relevant areas – in terms of performance both on and off the road as well as with regard to comfort and telematics. Our ‘longest-serving’ model series is therefore ideally equipped to continue its success story. In short, the new ‘G’ is still a ‘G’, only better”, stresses Ola Källenius, Member of the Board of Daimler AG responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.

As in the new E and S-Class, an alternative instrument panel in the form of a large display screen showing virtual instruments in the driver's direct field of vision and a central display above the centre console is available as an option.

Working on the development of the new G-Class was extremely challenging for the team. “Enhancing an icon such as the G‑Class in technological terms was both a challenge and an opportunity at the same time. Each part and every bolt came under close scrutiny”, explains Dr Gunnar Güthenke, Head of the Off-Road Product Group at Mercedes-Benz. “With the body, our main focus was on increasing the vehicle rigidity and the connections between the suspension and drivetrain with the ladder-type frame”.

At the time of market launch in June, the G-Class will be available at an entry-level price of €107,040.50 (price in Germany, incl. VAT) and thus remains at the level of the preceding version. The specification includes a host of new features such as the LED headlamps, the driving assistance systems, the high-quality interior with leather seats, and the new suspension. For demanding customers, options such as the Exclusive Interior Plus with leather on the interior door panels provides even more exclusivity.

Creating an extraordinary design is a special task in its own right. Combining this beauty with unbridled power is even more demanding. This was the challenge our engineers had to face when they followed the edict: form follows function. But they succeeded – and created a milestone in design history.

Mercedes-AMG Project ONE – Close to the Formula 1 world champion

Project One Tobias Moers CEO Mercedes-AMG

The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE, a two-seater supersports show car, brings the very latest and efficient Formula 1 hybrid technology from the racetrack to the road almost par to par for the first time. The high-performance hybrid is said to produce over 1,000 hp and reach top speeds beyond 350 km/h. The high-performance plug-in drive system comes directly from Formula 1 and consists of a highly integrated and intelligently networked unit comprising one hybrid turbocharged combustion engine with a total of four electric motors.

“Never before has racetrack technology been transferred so directly to the road. The 1.6-litre V6 hybrid petrol engine, located ahead of the rear axle, is taken straight from our F1 programme with only minor modifications,” Tobias Moers states, Chief Executive of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “But this beast is not exactly tamed – the engine revs up to 11,000 per minute. No other road car can claim this figure.”

Mercedes-Benz Unveiled the New CLS at LA Auto Show 2017

 Mercedes-Benz CLS 1

The world premiere of the new CLS is at the centre of the Mercedes-Benz appearance during the LA Auto Show 2017.

In 2004, with the CLS, Mercedes-Benz created a new vehicle segment that for the first time combined the elegance and dynamism of a coupé with the comfort and functionality of a saloon. With the third generation of the CLS, Mercedes-Benz is now building more strongly than ever on the aura and unique character of this trendsetting model: the new model has pure CLS genes with its arching waistline, flat side window lines and low greenhouse.

New CLS

At the same time it is another example of the logical evolution of the Sensual Purity design idiom: sharp edges and lines have been significantly reduced. It blends seamlessly into the current Mercedes-Benz coupé family with numerous design features. Its cd value of 0.26 is positive proof of outstanding aerodynamics.

The range of engines for the CLS is completely new. Three six-cylinder models will be available on market launch – two diesel and one petrol version (Fuel consumption combined: 7.5. – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 178 – 148 g/km). ENERGIZING comfort control links various comfort systems in the vehicle. As a result, well-being and performance levels are enhanced.
