Infiniti’s Premiere of QX30 Concept in Geneva

Infiniti QX30 Concept

Infiniti will take the covers off the QX30 Concept at the Geneva International Motor Show next month.

The QX30 Concept is the Infiniti design vision that will inspire a new premium compact crossover targeted at a new generation of premium customers.

Set to be revealed at Infiniti’s press conference scheduled for 12:30 p.m. local time on March 3 in Geneva, the QX30 Concept aims to reignite the premium compact segment with a distinctive approach to design that looks beyond the practicality and conformity expected of the segment.

The potential customers for such a concept are searching for a product to suit their “urban week and get-away weekend” lifestyle, and the QX30’s compact footprint matches that. Combining the sleek lines of a coupe with the rugged looks and commanding seating position of a crossover, the QX30 Concept foreshadows an urban explorer which is equally at home in the city as it is on the open road.

Infiniti Eau Rouge meets Eau Rouge

Sebastian Vetel Infiniti Eau Rouge

The Infiniti high-performance prototype super-sedan – the Q50 Eau Rouge – has finally come face to face with Eau Rouge, the signature high-speed corner of the famed Spa-Francorchamps race circuit in Belgium, from which the car takes its name. Spa’s notoriously fickle weather was true to form with heavy rain dousing the track throughout Vettel’s test run in the Q50 Eau Rouge.

Sebastian Vettel, Infiniti’s Director of Performance and four-time Formula One World Drivers’ Champion for Infiniti Red Bull Racing, had the honor of putting the car through its paces as part of a social media powered race against U.S. professional race driver Parker Kligerman and Nine-Ball World Champion snooker player Pan Xiaoting of China.

Vettel has been involved in the ongoing development of the Q50 Eau Rouge prototype, which was first revealed as a design concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January this year. The prototype was subsequently shown at the Beijing Auto Show in April.

The base engine inside the Q50 Eau Rouge is an aluminum and magnesium twin-turbo, 24-valve, 3.8-liter V6 powerhouse that is already an icon among sports car fans. For the Eau Rouge, with bespoke Infiniti engine mapping, air intake and exhaust, and F1-inspired aerodynamic bodywork, peak engine power is up to an exhilarating 560 horsepower.

Originally a design concept of what a high-performance variant of the Infiniti Q50 premium sports sedan could look like, the Q50 Eau Rouge lives on as a dynamic development vehicle. The decision to take the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge into production is currently under evaluation.

The new concept is to debut at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show where Infiniti will show footage of the testing of a prototype version, at the hands of Infiniti’s Director of Performance Sebastian Vettel

The four time Formula One world champion tested the 560hp high performance sports sedan at the Millbrook Proving Ground automotive testing facility, UK, putting the prototype through a challenging series of performance, handling and precision driving evaluations. Infiniti Red Bull Racing : Celebration on the Burj Al Arab

Infiniti RED BULL Racing 01

To celebrate winning the Formula One Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships for the fourth consecutive year, the Infiniti Red Bull Racing ran one of their Formula One cars at one of the most recognised locations on earth.

Perched 210 meters above the sea, on a helipad 24 metres wide, our 750bhp Formula One car became the first to run on the Burj Al Arabhelipad in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Usually reserved for on-track use, the car was involved in a spectacular show of burning rubber and tyre smoke, against a stunning backdrop of the Arabian Gulf, overlooking scenic views of Dubai’s impressive skyline.

Seconds after completing donuts in the car, David Coulthard stepped out of the cockpit and said: “That was a lot of fun. When Red Bull first suggested the idea to me I said ‘why not?’. I like getting involved with anything that pushes the boundaries and it’s what Red Bull stands for. I think this will produce fantastic, iconic shots in an amazing town and I’m really privileged to be part of it.”
