TIPO Fiat’s New Compact Sedan

Fiat Tipo

A name steeped in history for the new three-box sedan which was revealed in May at the Istanbul Motor Show as the first chapter of the ‘Fiat Ægea’ Project. Sales of the car will start in Italy in December and be gradually extended to the other EMEA region countries.

TIPO will be the name sported on the livery of the new Compact Sedan in all EMEA region countries except for Turkey, where the project name turned out to be so successful that it was decided to keep it for the car as well. The symbolic name has been used by Fiat since its earliest days and is now making a comeback on a global model designed to tackle the challenges of the future.

The Fiat TIPO is an all-new, four-door car created from the beginning as a three-box sedan embodying the “Born to be Sedan” concept and is enhanced by the balanced shapes characteristic of Italian design to guarantee personality and style without forgoing functionality.

Fiat Tipo Aegea

The result is a functional car which maximises value for money – this being a crucial concept in the Fiat functional family – and is packed with what customers genuinely appreciate, with a simple range and a transparent commercial offer. It is equipped with reliable, high performing and economical power units: two Multijet II turbo diesel engines and two petrol ones, with manual or automatic transmission and power ratings from 95 to 120 HP.

A global model for a global brand: the Fiat TIPO is designed in Italy by the FCA Style Centre, developed in Turkey with Tofaş R&D, made in the Tofaş plant in Bursa  and sold in over 40 countries in the EMEA area. Hence the project name ‘Ægea’ to pay homage to a country which has always been strategic for FCA, as demonstrated by the joint venture created in 1968 between what was then the Fiat Group and Koç Holding.

Fiat Aegea

A global model for a global brand: Fiat presents its new Compact Sedan, designed in Italy at the FCA Style Centre, developed in Turkey together with Tofaş R&D and manufactured in the Bursa plant to be sold in over 40 countries of the EMEA area. Hence the name of the project – Fiat Aegea – which pays tribute to Turkey which has always played a strategic role for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and represents a symbolic bridge between East and West.

For its début, the brand has chosen the Istanbul Motor Show, thus reiterating the importance the Turkish market holds within FCA strategies and sealing the equal share joint venture first begun in 1968 between what was then the Fiat Group and Koç Holding.

It stands to reason that FCA should assign a primary role to this model with which it aids to increase its presence in the EMEA region, as well as reinforcing its unrivalled leadership in the Compact Sedan segment in Turkey, thanks to its excellent interior roominess and load capacity, a very complete range and a style that allows no compromises.

The new Fiat model comes into the world as a unique combination of comfort, efficiency and technology. With the added touch of the exclusive Italian design that delivers a quality project with the proportions of a pure and powerful sedan.

The car will be produced in Turkey in the Tofaş plant in Bursa – one of the best industrial automotive sites in the world as proven by the awarding of the Gold Medal according to the assessment of World Class Manufacturing – and sold at first in Turkey, from next November, and then gradually in the other countries of the EMEA region.

Fiat 500X “Black Tie” Show Car by Lapo Elkann

 Fiat 500X Black Tie 01

The Geneva Motor Show is the stage chosen to display the show car created by Fiat and Garage Italia Customs, Lapo Elkann’s latest customisation project.

Fiat 500X “Black Tie”, an alluring show car based on Fiat’s new crossover, explores a new dimension of the 500, in which style, substance and quintessential Italian design characterise a comfortable, high-performance car which is always connected to the world: this is the X side of beauty, this is the spirit of Fiat 500X.

The car was customised by the experts of Garage Italia Customs, Lapo Elkann’s latest project dedicated to auto enthusiasts who want to own a unique product. Coming from an array of different creative backgrounds, all professionals on the team are automobile craftsmen who work entirely by hand. The underlying idea of the show car is to provide an unlimited choice of style solutions to make distinctively tailored custom products capable of perfectly expressing the customer’s expectations and personality.

On the outside, Fiat 500X “Black Tie” sports an innovative “wrap-paint” job which combines chrome-plated film and traditional paint. The end result is an elegant herringbone effect set off by varnished solid wood roof rails and handles.

The exclusive treatment is picked up inside by clever one-of-a-kind crafted details, like the seamless black denim roof and upper pillar linings. Other superb touches are the cashmere sun visors with black leather edging and the flawless matte black painted handles and ceiling light. The lower pillar lining, kick plate and non-slip floor mats of the front and rear doors are made of black Alcantara with dark stitching.

The seats are covered with denim on the outside and British-style cashmere on the inside with black leather edging and ice-colour stitching. The cashmere pattern on the seats carries over the herringbone effect of the exterior to convey a uniform style throughout.

The entire dashboard, panel structure and tunnel are also covered in black Alcantara, while the panel inserts are half cashmere and half denim with ice-colour stitching. The inner door moulding, central console, dashboard accents and the entire luggage cover panel are made of solid wood and nod to the style suggested on the outside.
