“We are honored that readers of auto, motor und sport named once again Alfa Romeo as one of the best designs in the industry” said Klaus Busse, Head of Design FCA EMEA, during the prize giving ceremony in Stuttgart. “This is an important recognition for Alfa Romeo: being chosen two years in a row by German car enthusiasts as the leading design and seeing Stelvio – the very first SUV in Alfa Romeo’s history – win its category just as the Giulia did last year is very rewarding for our design team and shows we are on the right track”.

alfa-romeo-giulia-veloce-05

“Veloce” is a glorious name that is evocative of the Alfa Romeo tradition, established in 1956 with the Giulietta model and ever since illuminating the brand’s outstandingly sporting and original versions. Today, the name Veloce glorifies another Giulia, to satisfy the needs of customers yearning for contents packed with personality.

The Parisian show will showcase two new Giulia Veloce variants, both with 8-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive: the first model sees the début of the as yet unseen Blue Misano livery and is fitted with the new 280 HP 2.0-litre Turbo petrol engine, while the second Giulia Veloce, displaying an alluring Silverstone grey body, is fitted with the new 210 HP 2.2-litre Diesel engine.

The exterior of the new Giulia Veloce stands out both for its refined styling features, such as the specific bumpers and glossy black door trim, as well as for various sports contents such as the special rear extractor which incorporates a double exhaust pipe and the optional 5-hole 19″ alloy wheel rims. The same sporty feel reigns inside, where new black leather Sport seats dominate, plus a sports steering wheel with an original grip, aluminium inserts on the dashboard, central tunnel, door panels and Xenon headlights.

This distinctive interior and exterior style houses a wealth of standard equipment, including dual-zone climate control, the Alfa DNA system and 6.5″ Connect infotainment system, as well as the new efficient active safety systems such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB) and pedestrian recognition, the Integrated Brake System (IBS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and cruise control with speed limiter.

The New Alfa Romeo Giulia

Alfa Romeo Giulia 016

The new Giulia, Alfa Romeo’s most eagerly awaited model in 2016, was unveiled to the international press at the Centro Sperimentale di Balocco (Vercelli). The event thus completes the car’s début, following its starring role at the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum in Arese with the launch of the Quadrifoglio version – the supreme expression of the “La meccanica delle emozioni” concept – and the subsequent launch of the entire range at the Geneva International Motor Show 2016.

The new Giulia can already be ordered from showrooms across Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands. For specific details and prices, please visit the local press sites. The range includes three trim levels (Giulia, Super and Quadrifoglio) and five new engine versions: 2.2-litre Diesel with 150 HP and 180 HP combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox or 8-speed automatic transmission; 510 HP 2.9-litre V6 Biturbo petrol engine combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The new Giulia features rear-wheel drive: this is a design choice that guarantees superior performance levels, loads of fun and a thrilling drive, and it is also a tribute to the most authentic traditions of the legendary Alfa Romeo.

Alfa Romeo Giulia 011

In keeping with Alfa Romeo traditions, the new Giulia offers unique technical solutions. The more sophisticated features include the Integrated Brake System (IBS) for considerably reducing braking distance – from 100 km/h to 0 in 38.5 m for the Giulia and in 32 m for the Quadrifoglio – and active suspension for exceptional comfort. Exclusive to the Quadrifoglio version, the Torque Vectoring technology affords outstanding torque distribution between the two wheels on the rear axle, and the AlfaTM Active Aero Splitter actively manages downforce at high speed.

In terms of style, the new Giulia stands out for it distinctive Italian design, which is expressed through an impeccable sense of proportions, based on the technical architecture, sophisticated simplicity and quality surfaces, both inside and out. On the exterior, the new Giulia is statuesque and recalls a big cat just about to pounce, and the clean and essential interior is designed to envelop the driver, focusing on the latter entirely.

World Preview of the New Alfa Romeo Giulia

Alfa Romeo Giulia 02

The Giulia, the top-of-the-range model sporting the legendary Quadrifoglio badge, was introduced to the international press at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, near Milan, today. It was a special event and a celebration of Alfa Romeo’s over one century of history: in fact, today the brand celebrates its 105th year of auto making, a goal which it shares with a very select club of manufacturers, which is even smaller when considering the brand’s worldwide sales successes and its racing victories.

Alfa Romeo Giulia perfectly embodies the brand’s new paradigm remaining loyal to its century-long tradition: not by chance, only who has a great past can face the challenges of the future. The respect for the brand’s proud history is demonstrated also by the original badge – designed by Robilant Associati – that the new model will show to the world for the first time: the emblem has been renewed and modernised on the outside while,  the distinctive shape and style elements which have made it an admired symbol the World over remain untouched.

Five are the elements which made Alfa Romeo one of the world’s most desirable automotive brands: distinctive Italian design, state-of-the-art, innovative engines, perfect 50/50 weight distribution, unique technical solutions and the best weight-to-power ratio. These are the indispensable ingredients for creating an Alfa Romeo. The new Giulia encapsulates three particularities of Italian design: sense of proportions, simplicity and care for surface quality. This is the ‘skin’ that Alfa Romeo stylists have modelled with painstaking care on the mechanical parts.

State-of-the-art, innovative engines are another characterising element of a genuine Alfa Romeo. For this reason, a unique engine in terms of technology and performance, destined to become the new benchmark of the brand, has been created for the Quadrifoglio version.

 Alfa Romeo Giulia 03

The six-cylinder turbo petrol tuned by engineers with Ferrari background delivers 510 HP and exhilarating performance: for instance, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.9 seconds. Incidentally, despite the sensational power and torque output, the new engine is surprisingly fuel efficient and implements an electronically controlled cylinder deactivation system. Obviously, as all next-generation petrol and diesel engines, this six-cylinder is made entirely of aluminium to reduce weight particularly on the front axle of the car and make that genuinely Alfa Romeo sound..

The Integrated Brake System – an innovative electromechanical system which combines stability control and a traditional servo brake for instantaneous brake response and consequent record-breaking stopping distances in addition to the all-important weight optimisation – is being introduced on the new Alfa Romeo. These state-of-the-art systems are all governed by Chassis Domain Control, the ‘brains’ of the on-board electronics which assigns the specific task of optimising performance and driving pleasure to each one.

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia also features a renewed Alfa DNA which modifies the car’s dynamic behaviour according to the driver’s selection: Dynamic, Natural, Advanced Efficient (energy efficiency mode implemented for the first time on an Alfa Romeo) and naturally Racing (on high performance versions).

The passenger compartment of the new car offers the best in terms of quality, safety, equipment and comfort with a specific, profoundly Alfa Romeo style element: the centrality of the driver. Not by chance, all the main controls are incorporated in the steering wheel as on a Formula 1 car, while the human-machine interface consists of two simple, user-friendly knobs for adjusting the Alfa DNA selector and the infotainment system.

Alfa Romeo 4C Spider US Version 19

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider features two composite-framed sport seats with standard leather and an exposed carbon fiber monocoque that exemplifies its race-inspired technologies. Furthermore, a driver-oriented cockpit with flat-bottom, leather performance steering wheel with paddle-shifters and aluminum pedals speak to the brand’s racing spirit.

For an upscale look, the fully wrapped premium-leather interior with accent stitching is standard on the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, as are unique carbon fiber vent surrounds. Highlighting the use of advanced technology is a 7-inch full-color driver information display (DID) cluster, which displays vehicle information through high-impact graphics to keep the driver focused on the road, or track, ahead.

Later will be available the all-new Akrapovič dual-mode exhaust system which features dual, center-mounted tips with carbon fiber surround and signature Alfa resonant sound. Handcrafted in Modena, Italy, Alfa Romeo 4C Spider combines two excellences – the performance engineering of Alfa Romeo and the craftsmanship of Maserati manufacturing.
