The circuit lies across the Apennines and features the most diverse environments and landscapes – from the harsh beauty of the highest areas, to the Sieve Valley with its hundreds of hamlets – and every year it attracts between 100,000 and 150,000 fans for the weekend. This year, adrenaline looks to take centre stage, considering the dominance of the Yamaha pilots in the last GPs, with double wins in Spain and France.

The Abarth and Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team partnership continues this year, promoting a passion for sport and continuous push to exceed one’s limits. On the fairings of the YZR-M1 2016, the Abarth Scorpion logo stands out: synonymous with racing, symbol of a unique heritage.

The Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing special series is the result of the partnership between Abarth and Yamaha. The two brands have collaborated, developing the car the way a racing bike is usually developed. Designs focused on engine power (up from 140 HP to 160 HP), the BMC filter, the suspension and the shock absorbers (Koni front and rear shock absorbers with FSD valves and Eibach springs), 17″ matt black alloy wheel rims and Record Monza exhaust.

Finally, since 1 March, the passion that reigns on the racetrack and on board each Abarth car can be found in “The Scorpionship”, the brand’s only official community dedicated to car owners, collectors, Abarth club members, and fans. Subscribing at the scorpionship.abarth.com website provides plenty of exciting advantages, promotions and racing opportunities as well as exclusive invites to meetings for fans.

The New 595 Line-Up: Even More Abarth

New Abarth 595 Line-Up

It’s nearly two months since the launch of Abarth 124 spider and now the brand with the Scorpion trademark is generating buzz again. The New Abarth 595 is the development of the iconic model: more powerful engines, even richer standard equipment and plenty of product innovations, some of which are usually reserved for higher segment cars.

With sales kicking off in June across the EMEA region, the new Abarth model is reasserting its reputation as a compact, lightweight and agile car and as a unique model in terms of configuration and tuning. In brief, the New Abarth 595 is the natural heir of the model launched in 2008 and present worldwide. Performance, technology and iconic Italian style are the key factors of a very successful strategy.

New Abarth 595 01

Available as a hatchback or convertible, the New Abarth 595 is offered with three trim levels (595, 595 Turismo and 595 Competizione) and three power levels to satisfy the requirements of increasingly demanding and competent customers. Many of the upgrades introduced are the result of experience gained with the development of the 695 Biposto, dubbed the “smallest supercar”, which implements real racing thrills and technology on a street-legal car.

The distinctive yet affordable 595 version is the Abarth entry level model and offers all the standard equipment needed to ensure typical Scorpion enjoyment and driving pleasure. What is more, 595 is the ideal base for drivers who want to tune their car over time and make it unique. The 595 Competizione and 595 Turismo versions express other two distinctive souls of Abarth. The first, more “purist”, is designed for those who love performance and no-compromise sportiness. The second, on the other hand, makes reference to the typical values of the Italian GTs in a compact size perfect for use in cities.

Abarth 695 biposto: The “smallest of the supercars”

Abart 695

The new Abarth 695 biposto was presented to the international press and made available for test drives on the “Riccardo Paletti” Racetrack in Varano de’ Melegari (Parma. It’s the ideal synthesis of road-going and racing cars, the “translation” of racing into a car made for daily life.

In the year of the legendary Fiat Abarth 695’s 50th anniversary, Abarth pays homage with the new Abarth 695 biposto, which made its official début at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Available for order from June of this year, the brand’s modern icon has already acquired a number of orders far exceeding the production capacity for the current year.

A success announced in advance by the great enthusiasm with which the Abarth 695 biposto was received at the main European automotive events in which it took part: Goodwood, Festival of Speed, LeMans Classic, Lignières Historique, Salon Privée. That’s not to mention the Gumball 3000, a prestigious supercar showcase that, for the first time, adopted an official car: the 695 biposto, in fact. Now the “smallest of the supercars” is ready to unleash its 190 HP on the roads of Europe, with the first deliveries set for the end of the year.

Abart 695 biposto

A high-adrenaline car created in the Officine Abarth in Turin, where craftsmanship and attention to detail, typical of Abarth’s most exclusive cars, meet the best of race car technology. From its founding to the present day, Abarth has never shrunk from challenges that at times seem impossible: the Abarth 695 biposto – the smallest of the supercars – is yet another demonstration that ingenuity and passion know no limits.

The 695 biposto epitomises the philosophy of Carlo Abarth – summed up by the slogan “Sunday on the track and Monday in the office” – who wanted to offer everybody the chance to live out their passion every day, making ordinary products extraordinary and making normal people feel like racing drivers every day.

Abarth 695 Biposto “Official Car” on Gumball 3000

Abarth Gumball 3

Abarth is “Official Automotive Partner” to this sixteenth edition of the Gumball 3000. Reinforcing its role as supercar by accompanying participants on all stages of the route,. five cars in Abarth’s current American range are to star in the stage from Miami to New York until the Abarth 695 biposto debut on Sunday 8 June in Edinburgh. The Abarth 695 biposto, the “Official Car” of Gumball 3000, was unveiled in a dedicated livery bearing the number “1” in Turin today.

The car’s Gumball 3000 livery brings out its muscular proportions while also drawing attention to the parts derived from the world of racing used to make the Abarth 695 biposto the most extreme 500 ever built. The “Official Car” of the 2014 rally will carry the prestigious no. “1” in recognition of its leading role among supercars.

Presented at Geneva in March this year, the 695 biposto has already become an icon of the Abarth brand. It’s 190 HP, 1.4 T-Jet engine is the most powerful ever installed in a road-going Abarth, and its dry weight of only 997 kg makes it one of the very few sports cars to boast a weight to power ratio of 5.2 kg/HP, easily a best in class. And that is not all. On top of that, an ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds makes the Abarth 695 biposto the fastest front-wheel drive saloon on the market today.

It is also the first car in the world to offer an H-pattern gearbox with dog rings and polycarbonate side windows, both homologated for road use. And in fact, it’s the road-going reinterpretation of the Abarth 695 Assetto Corse, competitor on racetracks throughout Europe and made in the Officine Abarth Mirafiori in Turin: craftsmanship and attention to detail, typical of Abarth’s most exclusive cars, meet the best of race car technology.

Abarth 595 ’50th Anniversary’ – The Month of the Scorpion

Abarth 595 Anniversario

November is the month of the Scorpion, and this year the brand is celebrating fifty years of the Abarth 595, a true icon of the brand which in the 1960s proved an immediate success thanks to its extraordinary performance, unusual for such a small car.

In order to pay it a fitting tribute, the 595 ’50th Anniversary’ was presented in its world début at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show. It’s the fastest 595 ever, as well as the “smallest” supercar ever produced. An exclusive model, which once again demonstrates the brand’s outstanding ability to look to the future without betraying its past.

Abarth has sold more than 60,000 units from 2007 to date, of which almost 95% road-going cars. Special Series have also always played an important role for Abarth, with almost 3,000 units sold to date, and the tuning kits, more than 16,000. It has also entered into more than 30 partnerships for the development of merchandising and licensing activities.

Today the brand continues in its trajectory of growth above all beyond national boundaries, accounting for nearly 85% of total sales. In Europe, for example, interest in Abarth is healthy above all in countries where an “automotive culture” and passion for driving have the deepest roots, such as Italy (15%), the United Kingdom (10%) and Germany (9%). And that’s not all. At the global level, more than 1 Abarth in 10 reaches Asia, principally Japan, a market which saw growth of 129% last year.

Racing, Road-going cars, Aftermarket – with kits, accessories and merchandising – and limited edition Special Series, the utmost degree of customisation, resulting in a car which is practically “handmade” by Officine Abarth specialist technic.

Celebrating Abarth 595 ‘50th Anniversary’

AB_595_50Anniversario_03

Abarth returned to the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show to celebrate the Scorpion brand through one of its greatest icons: a historic model of the 595 presented to the public in 1963 and an Abarth 595 ’50th Anniversary’, the new Limited Series inspired precisely by the brand’s icon.

The spotlights were also trained on the Abarth 695 Edizione Maserati in the special shade of “Record Grey”, produced in a limited edition of only 49 units to celebrate the car manufacturer that came into being precisely in 1949. The Abarth 695 Assetto Corse, distinguished by a special “social” livery that evokes the success of the 2013 Make It Your Race edition, the first Abarth talent show for aspiring drivers, is the most complete expression of the brand’s technology and performance. Pure performance.
